The Dominican Republic is located in the Caribbean and shares the island of Hispaniola with Haiti. The land is about the size of Austria. The landscape is wooded and mountainous with fertile valleys and plains, all the way to tropical forests. On the coasts to the north, southeast and east are excellent beaches, which are partly surrounded by mountains. The Pico Duarte is with 3175 m the highest mountain of the Antilles.
The climate in the Dominican Republic: The country is located in the marginal tropics and is therefore characterized by changeable wet climate. On the flat south coast the temperatures are around 28 degrees and steadily decrease with increasing altitude. Rainy season is from August to November, but the amount fluctuates between the lowlands with almost 600 mm to the mountains with more than 2,000 mm of precipitation.

Immigration Dominican Republic - Visa: Upon entry as a tourist of the European Union, the United States of America, and Canada, as well as many other nations is a one-time fee of currently 10 USD or alternatively 10 Euro per person to pay for the visa at the airport. This then applies for 30 days stay and does not entitle to work. A business visa for 60 days, which is requested at the Dominican Embassy of your own country, costs about 150 euros. It is required for application for residence and work permit in the country.
